My power steering is shot for the moment, so it got me thinking do certain drivers use power steering? Do drifters, autocrossers, scca drivers, and other types of drivers use power steering??? Or is it overated?? Idk i kinda like the feel of no power steering on the highway but trying to make a K turn suxxxxx balls!!!!

I like my powersteering. I also drift alot and the occasional autocross. I also like my A/C. Keep it. I had to go a few weeks without power steering when I blew a power steering line. When I went back to power steering I was grateful for it.

yeah imagine trying to control your car without powersteering when you can't even do it with it =). it just makes the car harder to drive, i don't think it would slow down the steering response or anything either so i don tfind any problems with it.

i fixed my p/s pressure hose man that sucker was expensive to get.

My informed answer is to use the search button.

There are a million opinions about this and there are a few things about it in the archive.

Hit a junkyard for another pump. I did when mine was shot and it works fine, and it only cost 35$ for the pump and lines

hi

if you think the p/s is too overboosted, you can use a smaller diameter steering wheel to alleviate the overboosted-ness

just a thought

What would be nice is an on/off switch. I like driving with no powersteering when I'm going 25mph or more, but parking or driving without it in slow traffic really sucks.

you don't need power stearing when the car is moving, the 92 acura nsx didn't come with power stearing, i was surprise when i look at the bottom of the car when it was on a lift, i drove it and it handled great (i work at japanese motor works, athens ga), but japanese motor works will make a power stearing or ac hose for you, any size any lenth. real drivers don't need power stearing

I drove a 240 with SR the other day with no power steering... Its certainly a great arm exercise. At first I was shocked at how hard it was to turn to get out of the parking lot.. Wasnt as difficult when going at high speed. But nevertheless, I would keep it just incase I have to make some emergency quick moves.

BTW, cars that did not come with power steering has some other means to make steering a bit easier. That is not the same thing as taking the power steering out of a car that came with it.

cars that did not have power steering came with a quicker ratio steering rack.

some cars are still b itches to drive, even with a manual steering rack, like my grandpappy's old 87 subaru station wagon

Tell me about it, I learned the basics of manual driving in my friends grandpa's old *** geo metro....long shift and no power steering the wheel turns FOUR times before the wheels lock man! I'd keep power steering if I was you...seriously no power steering SUCKS

after driving a 3 cyl, long shift manual, no power steering geo metro, anything is a relief to drive...I feel like driving a go-kart ....or a turbocharged car.....I wanna drive a turbocharged car...

I dunno man. I like not having my powersteering. I can feel the road a lot more. Yeah, the wheel is harder to turn at low speeds, but its good for building those muscles. It doesn't bother me one bit.

XERO- I emailed you about your JMW, in reference to p/s lines. Could you email me back? Thanks!

In the case of the NSX and the MR2 (I am certain the AW11 didn't have Powersteering, not sure of the SW20) with the engine in the rear there isn't alot of weight on the front wheels. Henceforth it is easier to steer without it. My old Civic also had no powersteering, but at a meager 2250lbs, the car was also no problem without.
