Hello all ive just purchased a 97 Q45 about two months ago. This is my first infiniti. So before i bought it, the previous owner had just gotten a tune up, knock sensor, power steering pump, cat replaced on driver side. So far ive gotten the cat on the passenger side replaced, NGK O2 sensors, power steering belt (didnt look like it was replaced with the pump for some strange reason)and the compressor belt (for another strange reason there was no belt on the compressor at all!). After putting on the compressor belt the AC works Great. Iput in a can of R134a and its freezing cold now. Soooo heres my problem, while replacing the PS belt we discovered the tensioner adjustment bolt is crooked. I managed to get the bolt back in (I had to get her home) but now i have a AWFUL!! high pitch squeal going on. I wanna replace the PS tensioner pulley, and the tensioner assembly but i cannot find the parts anywhere. Only place i havent tried yet is the stealership, no luck at the junk yard either. Thanks in advance.

for the pulley, you want to just have the bearings in the existing pulley pressed out and replaced.

I bought new bearings and did this last week with ALL pulleys. Total cost was about $84 including $40 of labor to press in and out six bearings. You can replace the entire pulleys for about $60 each from the dealership if you don't want to deal with replacing bearings.

Could it be #8 in the illustration? If yes, looks like a $1.61 part..

Jack is correct, might as well replace the parts that can give trouble while you have it apart..

One evaluates ball bearing not by looks but by spinning and noting any imperfection as such are magnified when under load.

Do yourself a favor and replace all 6 with best quality and all new belts, and you won't be back again for 60K.

Bearings should be about $20 each if you shop well.

It will be interesting to see what your particular dealer charges.

I will keep you all posted for sure. I went ahead and got another tensioner bolt from off of another Q from the junk yard (I had to get that bolt off) and it has quieted down significantly.... But I'm still just going to replace the whole entire tensioner pulley, including bearings.
