I need help.

I am not sure what to do for power steering lines in my S13. I am using the Q pump with the KA pulley flipped backwards.

Has anybody used this pump in an S13? What did you do for lines?

i am using the same pump but made lines to work...i went to my local speed shop and got some xrp ps hose and fittings that fit into the rack and the banjo outlet on the pump and about 3 ft of hose i think...then routed the hose around to make it fit.autozone sells some ps compatible hose the right diamater of the vh pump but you may need a stepdown adaptor for the s13 resivor, its been a while and i used an s14 resivor on mine since the s13 was mia.

I made mine also, search on zilvia.net, The sizes on the rack and the pump are listed on there.

The rack and pump are both 16mm banjo. I used some 16mm banjo to -6AN fittings, and then used high pressure power steering hose with -6AN fittings on each end. One end was a 45* the other was straight. Gave me good flexibility when installing.

Another thing to add is a ps cooler, since the pulley is so small your turning it fairly fast. Mine at least had a tendency to boil over after hard driving.

Thanks all, great info.

I assume the PS cooler goes on the return side?

You are correct.

I used a stock Q pump with a stock sized pulley on my Z, so I didn't have any cooling issues.

By the way, if you want to eliminate the banjo fittings, use a 16mm male to -6an adapter fitting, readily available from summit.

I ordered two 16mm to -6 adapters and some straight and 45 fittings from summit

I have figured some things out after wasting money on a bunch o f AN fittings and line. This info is for anyone who has questions in the future and applies to a 1990 S chassis with a KA24E. It may be the same for other chassis but I don't have any cars for reference.

The Pressure Side of the Steering rack is a 14mm X 1.5 O-Ring Bump Fitting. The Return side of the Steering rack is a 16mm x 1.5 O-Ring bump Fitting. The VH power steering pump pressure port is a 16mm x 1.5 Banjo fitting.

You can use an AN fitting on the rack but there is a possibility of developing a leak because it doesn't fit all the way down to the bottom of the port on the rack. IF you go that route I would put a good amount of thread sealant on the fitting before installing in the rack.

The better option is to keep you old steering line, make your measurements, and then take it all to a hydraulic line shop. They can crimp a rubber, or stainless steel line on your factory metal hard line and a -6 compression fitting on the other end so that you can use a 16mm to -6 adapter on the pump.

I hope this helps someone in the future.
