The hydraulic power steering/suspension pump on the Q45a is being overhauled and I remember reading something about putting some sort of special oil in for the steering and something else for the suspension. Could you guys enlighten me as I'd hate to stuff the pump again. The mechanic who is doing the work said the oil that was in the pump was "green".

Special expensive active suspension fluid vs. conventional PS/ATF for steering.

Don't use anything other than that [from Nissan]......probably something else from somwhere around the world might work but very very special temperature characteristics.

All the [9] accumulator probably need replacing due to loss of Nitrogen back pressure....bladder/seal compressed with nitrogen as anticavitator provides high frequency normal shock action while active fluid/system proves low frequency [slowish] leveling anti roll/dive lift.

Other than Texasoil recharge service, new parts are the requirement [$7-8,000 US]......somebody in Japan might be able to get them from Nissan but Japanese prices will probably be higher than US.

Good luck, what happens when you import a one of a kind vehicle.

Thanks again for the advice Q45tech. The local Nissan dealers are just not interested in an imported Q45a. The story goes that a dealer stuffed up the service on one and it cost them heaps of $$$ to fix their mistake. Apparently all dealers have been told by Nissan Australia not to touch private imports. Goes well for our mighty NIssans being an international car. I'm getting more information from the local "Citroen" and "Roller" dealers than from Nissan Brisbane. Nissan Australia said they would do some checking for me, but that was 2 days ago. The Citroen bloke said he uses "LHM" oil and the RR bloke uses Dexron 2 or 3. I think I will get in touch with Nissan Japan, some how, and see what kind of oil they suggest. I'll wait until I get the car back on the road to see if the accumulators are working. Do you have TAXASOIL's email? There is a lot of stuff on "ACTIVE SUSPENSION" on the internet and from all accounts it's expensive but a fantastic ride, I'm amazed that it hasn't been embraced more widely. There is a fascinating paper by Michael Estanislado Lujan on passive and active suspension. Maybe you have already read it.

Yeh! I know what you mean by importing a "One of a kind" vehicle but The Q45a IS a "ONE OF A KIND" vehicle and a once in a lifetime challenge.

I've also been in touch with Mobil and Castrol Australia and they really don't want to recommend anything. I think I have exhausted all avenues all I can do now is rely on Nissan Japan for some answers.

Thanks, the project isn't so daunting knowing that you blokes are ONLine.
