OK.I've searched about this couldn't find a word about it.Either that or I passed over it to quickly.

I've already got the pump going in my 20 and got the high pressure line going (custom) and putting in a Summit oil cooler.

But I have a DOHC PS reservior and the nipple that goes to the PS pump is about 1/2" but the fitting on the RB pump is about 3/4".I made a ghetto rigged hose and it leaks like crazy.

I used 3/4" Heater hose (bad idea) to a plastic reducer to 1/2" heater hose.No matter what I did that hose leaked and my car wasn't even running. It seemed to just seep through those hose.

What is everyone else using??????

cut and weld on -AN bungs and run a SS return line...

I've used a factory SOHC KA power steering hose to work. Never had a problem.

ricky what reservior are you using??because the pump and the DOHC reservior are 2 different sizes.I may have to have that welded, such a pita!!!

Or does the SOHC line change dia from end to end??

Anyone wanna save me a few minutes searching.. What size and pitch are the fittings on the rack (feed & return)? Been thinking of having some SS lines made up myself & running a larger/custom tank.

I actually cut my rb and ka hose in the middle, then covered the ka in gorilla glue and jammed it about three inches into the rb hose. Haha it was just temp but its actually working well. If i knew the adhesive that chemically bonded to rubber I would just leave it like that. Its just a temp fix I swear.

RB25 Drag really???Hmm I gotta find a SOHC reservior then.Or maybe its because the RB25 pump is different? Is your pump a HICAS pump or no?

Mello talk to Coolwhip. He hooked me up with my line.Hey did you still want that fan and silicone elbow?

PorkChop, I'm not sure if your more ghetto than I am or not.So far I think I am cause my line seeps PS fluid. LOL :-)

Gates makes a power steering fluid rated low pressure hose that I am using on the suction side. It works well.

gawdzilla do you have a part #??And is it two different diameters??

3/4" to 1/2"????

I'm gonna check Autozone tonight. The dbags at Pepboys say that they don't carry PS hoses.

I dunno what pump it is. It came with my motor. I used the DOHC power steering lines and my SOHC resevor and it worked perfect.

Here is the best pic I have of the pump:

Yeah thats a Non-Hicas pump.I'm not sure what your running but its got the same fitting as the KA.

Actually maybe I need the PS hose for a HICAS 240, maybe they have the same fiting as the skyline?

Thanks bro,

Do you have a HICAS pump on your car?

Or am I the only one with this problem????Could you do me a favor?Could you see if the SOHC reservior has a 3/4 suction? Or maybe the line has 2 diff diameters.

Yeah I'll take the reducer/elbow if you still have it, but I went a diff. direction on the fan. I sent you a PM on zilvia, did you get it.

I was looking at this same problem today... The res uses a 15mm OD fitting, and the pump has a 20mm OD fitting. The pump fitting comes off at a 45* angle, and the KA pump comes off parallel to the pump body.. I was going to swap them but I don't think that will work..

Going to the parts store now to see what I can find... Did you test the SOHC ps res? I saw a bunch in the JY yesterday should have taken the damn micrometer... oh well

Mello I think that I'm just going get a custom suction line made up.Cause with my turbo the DOHC reserviour is in the exactly perfect place. (well.... actually it just fits is what I mean in the stock location)

So for right now I upped my Ghettoness level and I Duct taped that piece of hose I made till I can get the right hose made up.

I have a ghetto brass reducer fitting to mate the two hoses together. My future plans are to pull the PS pump, remove the bolted on flanged fitting, and drill/tap the outlet so I can thread in a -AN fitting and point it towards the PS reservoir that I relocated to the radiator support.

gawdzilla- you said rubber hose doesn't like PS fluid. Does SS braided line count?

I just swapped to a DOHC pump. It's easy to modify and makes replacement a snap, you can find new ones everywhere. All the lines fit too...

Coolwhip.Yeah I could do that. That piece on the PS pump un bolts.

But like Darius said I need to find a special SS line to use.

Darius where did you get your reducer and lines? Did you mate the stock Skyline and 240 lines together?Cause I don't have either.

I'll probably end up just making that SS line and welding fittings.

But..... I could also just change the damn pump. What's involved with swapping pumps???

I just went to Home Depot and got a brass reducer fitting and then got some bends and hose from O'Reilly's. It is totally ghetto rigged together with worm gear clamps but it doesn't leak, amazingly.

Hey Darius,

If you have any pics around, can I take a look at them?

Cause I might do that for now.Since mine is still leaking.

But what kinda hose did you get?Cause I tried getting different diameter PS hose at Pepboys but the guys there are RE-tards. They made me feel stupider talking to them.

I hear ya on the Pep Boys. Some of those guys are absolutely brain dead.

Here's the best pic I could find, but you get the idea. I just matched the hose diameters from the pump to the brass fittings and bends and clamped the hell out of everything.

I like how you relocated the PS Res, I have been thinking of doing something similar.. Same side inlet/outlet fmic piping +intake piping/maf/filter takes up a lot of space, I don't need hoses running right thru the middle of it

I have the same problem as Sil240. I think all RB HICAS pumps use the 20mm feed hose, while (all??) KA reservoirs use the 15mm feed hose. I haven't found a HICAS KA res to measure yet.

Bwana you got me all excited, then.... Pooop

But maybe if I got my hands on a 240 HICAS reserviour then it might be the same diameter???

Or at least I might be able to swap pumps, if the 240 HICAS pump has the same 15mm Dia as the reserviour.

I've just done a lil bit of searching and I've found these pics:

http://www.ka-t.org/forums/vie...0e2a9

It looks like HICAS S13's use the same reservior as the R32 HICAS.The pump looks kinda similar, but I can't really tell.

So if you have a HICAS S13 and still have some of those parts laying around LMK!!!

semi off topic question...

I'm planning on using my SOHC reservoir in the stock location (passenger side) and just running long lines to connect all the low pres stuff (with a cooler inline).

Is there any disadvantage to runnign longer lines like this? The oil capacity would be higher...which would be a good thing for cooling, but is there anything i'm missing?

You will want to make sure the line from the bottom of the reservoir to the pump is constantly sloping downwards. If there is a high spot between the reservoir and pump, air can get trapped in the "hump" and air-lock the line. This can significantly reduce the flow to the pump and increase the heat on the system since no flow is going thru the cooler, etc.
