i've got an 89' coupe that im dropping a notch top into and i've heard before that i can't use the power steering lines that i have with the notch top p/s pump. i never worried about it because i didn't plan on running p/s anyway since i didn't have it before, but now i think i've changed my mind and i want power steering and i dunno what to do about this little issue i've got goin on here.anyone have a simple solution? Thanks :D!!

when you say you didnt have power steering before what do you mean? The power steering was disconected? or you had some sort of manual rack?

I know for a s13 to s13 swap all you need is the dohc lines and it connects right up, but Im not sure how well it would connect to a s14 motor. Maybe you could swap a s13 pump onto the motor and connect it up?

Worst case you can get some high pressure fittings and braided stainless steel hose and make your own lines.

the reason i didn't have power steering before is because the pump went to **** on the last guy that owned it so when i bought the car it didn't even have a pump. i dunno what kind of pump i am supposed to use for the new motor, i'll probably ask jeff from heavy throttle abotu that one. but i like that idea for the braided lines, i think that could work

I see more & more sils with the High pressure braided hoses. My p/s lines are old I looked into getting new ones but they're a little more expensive than hoses should be. Is there a write up on how to do this upgrade cuz I haven't found one.

1) -6 High Pressure Hose @ 22" Length (Aeroquip makes the best)(Be sure to measure your distance from Pump to Rack because it CAN VARY!!!)2) 90* -6AN (37* Flared) Fittings on both ends of hose3) PS Pump Output Fitting (16x1.5mm to -6 AN)4) Steering Rack Input Fitting (14x1.5mm to -6) 5) Earl's Stat-o-Seals to help seal the rack fittings

Voila!

Pulled from a local forum.

Thanks Scottie.

You just need to find a race shop or a shop of some sort that can crimp high pressure Aero-Quip lines with the fittings and you should be golden as the fitting can be bought at JEGS or Summit Racing.

Its a high pressure line. I would suggest finding a shop local to you that has the super expensive machine to crimp the fittings.

Look for a race shop, cage builder shop or performance shop. Ask them, theyll be able to point you in the right direction. Just use your phone book.
