I searched and didn't find. I have a 89 sohc and the rack leaks so badly that the pump is useless can i just take the pump and lines off of the rack and call it a day until i get it fixed or is this going to be bad. Do i need to plug the line holes into the rack? Any help

You technically could... but whether or not it is practical is a different story.
For the SOHC, you can simply remove the power steering belt & voila! no more power steering.
You can also remove the pump itself & lines, but you will need to use fittings custom line or something to loop the power steering rack back w/ itself.
IMHO, you should just fix the problem @ hand. Power steering is wonderful.
we took the pump and resevoir out of my friends..then filled up the rack with fluid to help keep it lubed, looped a hose between the 2 hardlines..and there ya go, all of 10 minutes

I have read some people warning that if you only remove the belt eventually you will blow out the rack, thats what Im doing right now though is just no belt, I plan on looping it. Also with just removing the belt it is much harder to turn than looped or looped with a breather.

yes do not just removed the belt or else. If so, loop your rack because the pressure needs to circulate back and fourth. not looping it causes back pressure, since power steering not running.

how did you attach the hose to the lines? I know the size thread for the lines is m14x1.5 and m16x1.5, but I havent seen any fittings (barb fitting) that size for me to get a hose and loop it.
