Well, i have an S13 with SR. My power steering leaks and i don't want to deal with it. Can anyone of you knowledgable Folks help me out here? I would like to know what damage can i cause on a my if i dont' use power steering? I was tol that after a few months i can mess up the steering if there's no fluid in there. I'm taking the belt off so that it doesn't spin. I just want to make sure that i'm not gunna mess anything up in the long run. Thanks

Jose

well if you run it without fluid then the pump will burn out and maybe get a little loud. if you disconnect the belt then you will not have a problem with anything else. it will just be a little harder to steer thats all. what year is the car, becasue in my 91 i would have to get a whole different size belt if i want to remove my power steering but in a 89-90 you wont have to worry about the belt size. oh yeah you should feel a little bit more REV in your engine if you disconnect the belt.

if the pump is bad or u dont want to use it anymore, you should just remove it, its just dead weight. like my a/c compressor hehehe

Does the FSM show what lines to remove? My rack leaks and a new one is needed becuase it looks like it could be more then just a leak.

But is there a proper way of remove the lines from the rack? like seal cut and seal or what? Should i have fluid in there before sealing it... just explane please.. someone >_<
