Power steering question

Ok I have a 89 240 with a ka24de in it and do u really need all the hard lines and ps pressure swich or Can I just have braided lines on the major stuff . 2nd question is if the rack and pinion hasn't been hooked up for about 4 years should it be wise to get another 1

f*** it just run no p/s. i ran into the same issue and decided to save money. however, i would like power steering in the near future.

i realize i did not answer your question, just some input.
