My steering on a 2000 Q45 is a bit bumpy when I turn to left or right. I get a slight groan also, but mainly at low speeds. When I went to check the fluid, it looked like my reservoir was overfilled, but I haven't added any fluid in my memory. I then noticed that the fluid seems to be backing up into the reservoir and it has spilled out the top. Immediately after shutting off the engine, I opened the cap, and the fluid came frothing out the top--it looked like a raspberry smoothie. Does this mean I need to replace the pump?

try bleeding the system.. Turn the car off, raise the front end, take the cap off, turn the wheel back and forth and maybe it will be fine.

Secondly you could try undoing the return line, running the car and waiting until no more bubbles come out.
