I have a 1994 J30 and I do not know which P/S pump I should buy. Would it be 2 wheel steering or 4 wheel? I believe it is the 2 wheel. Also where can I order one for a good price. Is this all I will need to replace? The car is making alot of noise when I turn the wheel. Thanks,

If your car is a J30t its a HICAS car and needs the 4 wheel otherwise, its the 2 wheel part.

On your trunklid it will say either J30 or J30 t..

best place for parts is infinitipartsusa.com, ask for joe and identify yourself as a NICO member.

Fred...:)

You may want to check the fluid level and look for any leaks from any of the hoses. P/S leaks aren't always easy to detect, a lot of times the fluid will leak onto a splash shield or belly pan and keep it from hitting the ground. You can call me in the morning for a price: 1.888.216.5328, I'll be glad to help! Hopefully you will just need a hose and not the complete pump . -Joe:)

Thanks for the input. My wife told me today that the car was making a noise so she stopped at a gas station and they put some P/S fluid in it. What kind? Unknown. I plan to drain the system and refill prior to P/S Pump or hoses.ATF Dexron - lll is fine right?

Thanks,

Mobil 1 ATF is preferred by many on this board.

If the J is like the Q. the difference in the powersteering pump is the pully on the front and the high pressure hose mount on the rear. You can use a std pump on a Touring by replacing the pulley from the old p/s pump from the tourning to the new std pump. Last problem is the hose on the rear use the Tourning instead of the Std. hose....

I sure hope they didn't use P/S fluid, rather than ATF. These fluids are entirely different, and can cause big problems if they're used in the wrong place. I'd think a service station should be aware that a lot of cars use ATF in the p/s system, so if they used the wrong stuff, they should take care of a flush for you and cover the related damage (if any). I'd check ASAP to make sure the fluid doesn't look clear (like p/s fluid) instead of RED (like ATF).

Heath

P.S. Just noticed your post was a week or so ago. It would probably be difficult to get any help from the service station at this point...

Thanks all. I drained it and installed Dexron. Seems fine now.
