HI, I have a 93 240sx and I need to replace the alternator belt. To do that I also need to remove the power steering belt, but I can't figure out how to release the tension on it. I loosened the tension bolt on the right side of the pulley, but it still wouldn't move. Help! Thanks,Jeff Henley

did you loosen the bolt the locks the tensioner bolt in place? those are the only bolts that keep the pump from pivoting.

Yes, I did loosen that bolt, and still no luck. Then I decided to pull my head out of my *** and check the tension on the alternator. It was loose! So I tightened the tensioner bolt and its retainer nut, and now the car is fine. Thanks for your time.-Jeff

Althought you took care of your problem i just thought i would add that, even when you loosen the tension bolt the alt and PS will stay in their position, ie. acts like its "sticking" (very hard to move back and forth). After you loosen the bolt enough just take a rubber mallet and a large screw driver and knock the accesory gently to loosen the belt (move it towards the center of the engine). Note you can only move it as far as youve turned the tensioner bolt, so make sure you arent fighting it.

You may not have noticed but when u try to loosen the tension on the belt the tensioner bolt comes out. If it worked the way it is supposed to the accessory should be moving as you turn the adjusting bolt, not the bolt itself.

Sorry if i lost you.
