I am trying to replace the line that comes off of the side of the P/S pump. The banjo fitting on the side just isn't coming loose. Is it reverse threaded or am I about to break something? Also, can this line be replaced with the engine installed? I notices that it runs aft of the oil pan.

I have searched throughout the forum before I posted this and have found nothing other than pumps for sale.

Sorry, this is for a 97 Q45.

You CAN take this out without removing the engine...... BARELY! Just be careful when putting the new line into the steering manifold under the left front side. Even if it feels good as it's going in, you may be stripping it. I had to chase the threads with a tap and thread file. Run it in as far as you can by hand.

The banjo fitting is normal (right handed) threads and a 24 mm head. It took me a 1/2 " drive breaker bar and an 18" cheater bar to break the torque! Add in a few of the Cardinal Sin caliber cuss words and it will jump off of there like a cricket.

Any tips on bleeding the steering to get rid of the pump whining?

Side to side while pump is running. Best done with a BG or Sun extraction/fill machine.

Check this thread... different series (G50) but same ideas as far as bleeding.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot tonight. I have already checked for a pump. Autozone has one for $129.00.

I doubt your pump is bad... not sure but it's rare on the 90-96 at least...
