If you buy a KA pump seal rebuild kit, it comes with the front oil seal and rear oil seal. I think it only costs like $20. I swapped in the KA pump after having issues with my suction line and the pulley is too big. So idling around corners makes it tough to steer. If I blip the throttle, the wheel jerks in the direction of the turn because it boosts the pressure. Has anyone else who has done this PS swap noticed this? I think my steering rack is jacked up from driving without fluid in it, but that may be another issue entirely.

I'm running the DE KA pump and I made the awesome decision of driving with no fluid in the system as well for too many miles and I'm quite sure I effed up the pump. I don't see what damage could be done to the rack but then I don't know the system all that well. Every time I start up after sitting for a while the pump whines above 3k rpms briefly and then quits. Coincidentally it also provides a fractioned percentage of steering assist until it goes through the "whine stage". Thereafter it intermittently works at random times so I'm not sure what the deal is. Blipping the throttle does help on occasion though.

But, on the main point of things, using the KA-DE pump I had to also order the pulley for the DE pump and flip it over backwards to align everything right, no mods needed to the bracket and aligns perfectly. Provided I didn't run the system without fluid to start with I think it would be running perfectly right now.

I can see things getting hot with running the pump without fluid, but the rack?? There's still fluid caught down in there so that's why I am just as confused as you are as to why it is acting funny. I only have power steering while turning right. This sucks because it makes my right arm huge compared to my left arm and it is difficult to find shirts that fit well.

Hahaha yeah parallel parking in my car could be considered as a new workout routine. My situation points to the pump however seeing as it whines...but as for the intermittent function I have no idea.

I was reading in your thread Darius about hot start and stalling and maybe another one you created about similar issues your engine's giving you at the moment--my car is doing nearly the exact same thing. Maybe there's some magical connection between the two problems hah
