I need help with how to tighten the bolt on the hose on the bottom of the power steering pump in my 1994 j30t. I tried to get it but can't access it easily due to the alternator being in the way. Plus I tried to move the alternator with no success and when I tightened the bolt that keeps the alternator in place the car's check engine light came on and the car now has a consistent shake to it. Please help if you can. Thanks

well im not sure what u did with ur altinator but it sounds like its not charging the car. make sure that u didnt accidently knock a wire loose of it and that it has plenty of tension. i was told with belt tension "if u can twist the belt mor then 90 degrees its too loose. jus dont go crazy tightning it" did u loosen all the bolts that hold the altenator cause theres usually two and if one is still tight it wont move. other then that not sure what to tell u. it takes a large variety of tools to work on a car and swiwel sockets and joints all come in handy.

That's interesting. And by twisting it 90 degrees do you mean that after twisting it it would be perpendicular to the pulley as opposed to flat against the pulley? Because if that's the case then it definitely is too loose. Thanks for your input.
