So my power steering pump is dead. (rwd ca18det)

I'd like to buy new... does anyone know what works? I searched, all I could find was:

- CA18ET in 85 200SX pump "works" but no info on mounting bracket or belt anything- CA20E pump works but needs bracket and washers or something.- KA24DE pump can work but may need bracket ???- CA18DE in Pulsar pump does NOT work

I'd like to get a new one from Autozone or wherever and be done with it, but I don't want a 150$ paper weight either. Anyone know if the rwd 200SX pump is compatible with the factory bracket? Anyone personally running a 200SX pump? Halp.

Thought I'd update this so people can use the info later.

SO don't get an 85 200SX Turbo (CA18ET) power steering pump. The DET pulley will NOT fit the spline. I bought one from O'Reilly Auto and ended up returning it.

Get a 91 240SX (KA24DE) pump. It fits the CA bracket AND tensioner AND pulley. The KA tensioner looks like it could work too, I just didn't bother since the CA one fit. I swapped the low pressure hose fitting over from my CA pump, but the KA one is usable if you just reroute the hose. Also, I used the KA banjo fitting thingie so it would be all OEM and stuff. You can see it in the second pic. It did require hacking off part of the CA bracket (you can see my crappy job with a hacksaw in pics lol), or you can use KA bracket or you can just use the stock CA set-up or whatever. It doesn't really matter. THE KA24DE PUMP WORKS

~~~pics~~~
Notes:
Replace copper crush washers if you don't want leaks at the high pressure joints. KA fitting-to-pump banjo bolt requires M18 copper crush, easy size to get at parts stores because they're used as oil drain plug washers. The banjo bolt connecting the high pressure line to fitting requires M16, which I couldn't find locally. BUT Harbor Freight sells a copper wash assortment that has an imperial size that interchanges. Like 6.99$ for a whole set. Go for it.
My stock belt fit with CA pulley, tensioner, and KA pump. Don't know if stock belt will fit with KA tensioner, didn't try it.
But yeah. KA24DE p/s pump is where it's at.
No more worries about power steering pumps
Well that's good to know. Also is that the non-hicas or hicas ps pump bracket? It looks to me like the non-hicas pump bracket.
Wish I had see this earlier......I could of told you a ca18et pump won't work.....atleast '84-'85's because they have v belt pulleys. One from a '86 ca18et might work since they have serpentine belt pulleys......
Ah well, got full refund on the S12 pump so it's all good.
After figuring out that pump wouldn't work, I ended up going to pick'n'pull and and looked at a bunch of Nissans hoping for something that would be salvageable. Saw a 91 240SX and figured that would be my best bet and it ended up working... only paid $15 for the pump too
Sorry to bump an old topic but there is some wrong info here.
The only thing from the KA that will work is the pump.
The tensioner, pully, and bracket will NOT work.
I've used S13 SOHC and DOHC as well as a S14 pumps successfully. The Pulley, tnsioner and bracket must all be CA and you are fine.
Just FYI, if you click on ppl's screen names, you can view info about them, like their email addy's.
But I'll save you the trouble. [email protected]
Just make me an offer when you email me. It's been sitting on the floor of my living room for WAY too long.
I'm interested in that stuff. I need the PS pum bracket and tensioner and everything else... but not the pump itself. I'll email you ASAP.
Just tried this myself (KA24DE pump on RWD CA18DET) and the pump pulley is a bit off. It sits too far back towards the motor. I tried to space the pulley out to compensate using the 2 crush washers but it looks like I'll need about 5 more to line it up where it won't derail the belt. Anybody else have this?
