Going to replace this item with an Autozone pumpdespite my mechanics grumbling about anything otherthan OEM being suffecient.

Would appreciate any advice on fixing PS pump

Anyone know how to rebuild one?

I wouldn't mess with rebuilding one (that's if you can find a rebuild kit).

The bad parts about replacing the pump is the location, and the mess.

I got under the car Sat and Sun

After burning myself on the exhaust, I figured out it was hotand that it appeared the PS hose clamp was loose. I wasable to move the clamp with my finger. It was the hose fromthe PS reservoir to the pump (Low pressure I think)

I was really hard but I got my ratchet and got it tightened upthe hose clamp. The PS pump bolts appeared to be tight toowhen I checked themIt was almost inaccesable but I got one click on my ratchet eachtime I got the clamp tightened.

Since I became a human oil rag anyway, I went ahead and degreasedeverwhere underneath where old CV joint grease was.

Sunday I saw a small oil spot and realized it was smaller than Saturdays.

I got under there and tried to add a clamp behind the one there but itwas just too little space to work. Hoped what I saw Sunday was justleftover degreaser.

Got up this AM Mon and saw NO oil on the driveway! Maybe I fixed it-only time will tell. I sure want to take back the pump, hoses, etc to \Auto Zone.

Tried to tighten the belt a little on this PS pump but whoeverput the last belt on may have stripped out the tighteningmechanism. It just turns and slips back a thread if you try to keep tightening Also to move the pump you have to loosen the hex bolt right (over the CV joint and just under the transmission case)-tough to get to. THEN youcan loosen the easily seen bolt under the pump THEN move the pumpand tighten the belt. I need an assistant for this one.

Anyone ever bought the OEM tightening brackets and or put them in? I wonder how much they are? If cheap enough it might pay just to keepin your car for an emergency.

Will work on in Dec when my friend and I change out the low pressurehose

It looks like it would be easier to drill a big hole in your federwallto remove the mounting bracket for this thing.
