I just bought my 93 j30 with a bad power steering leak from the high pressure hose coming out of the pump at the first joint. The power steering fluid drains right away once I start driving. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a fix for this or do I have to replace it? The pump is also making a lot of noise when there is fluid in it. Is this due to the leak in the hose or might I need to replace the pump too? Once it's completely out of fluid it makes no noise at all.
I see the pressure hose runs over $250 online. Is there anywhere I could get it cheaper or should I search the junk yard?
Thanks for any help I can get

If you need to save some cash, I would go looking at the junk yard.
I got a brand new power steering hose custom made for my Q45 for a lot less than $250.
The noise from the pump is probably air trapped in the system. We need to get the leak fixed first.
Once we accomplish that, you can refill the reservoir, and work the air out of the system by turning the steering from lock to lock (with the car in neutral, but the engine running).
Keep checking the fluid level, because as you work the air out, the fluid level will drop and you will have to keep topping it up.
If you really want to get a new hose, then call this group http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/default.asp and ask for Joe.
Make sure to tell him you are a Nico member. I think you will get a better price on the hose than $250.
Good luck!

Is the pressure hose the same on the 300z. I see a lot of those for a lot cheaper.

Nevermind. Doesn't look the same at all. Any other cars that I might be able to pull it from?

Alright! Grabbed one of a fresh j30 at the junk yard for $13. I'm pretty sure it's good cuz when I detached it it was still full of fluid.

Wow watch a biotch to replace. I got the old one out and the new one in. But I can't get the end by the driver side wheel to screw in. I think I'm not giving the pressure the screw part around the line needs. Or im not getting it in the right angle while I push to screw in. It's hard. I gave up for today. Ill give it another try tomorrow. If I can't do it ill take it to a mechanic just so they can screw the damn thing in

So I finally got the line in and some how stripped the damn hole. After working so long on this it was like a kick in the nuts. Is there any way to fix the hole? Can I use a heli coil on the hole to fix it ?

Nevermind I'm going to take it to my dads machine shop and tap the whole bigger and use a reducer hope that works.
