Hey guys I have a little problem with my power steering pump I was driving as normal and turning was fine then all of a sudden I was stopped at a light i went to turn the wheel slightly and it was pretty hard to turn so I started trying to turn it and yea well I have loss of power steering so when I got into a parking lot I had a look at the pump and there was power steering fluid sprayed all over under the hood, the fluid was completely gone and I started it up and noticed some bubbling around a bolt by a pressure hose. It was pretty lose I mean I could tighten it and loosen it by hand thats how loose it was now does anybody know what the problem would be? If I could simply just tighten it and put some more fluid in or what? Or is that some kinda pressure release valve?

fill the reservior up and see where it leaks from. get new hoses or tighten down what you have. there is no pressure relief valve.
Yea I tried last night took the bolt out had a look at it and fluid passed through that bolt and goes into a hose, without the bolt a hose comes off. Anyways I tightened this back up and put some more fluid in the reservoir and started it up tried to find a leak couldnt find one so I took it around the block I come back and there was no difference in steering it was still stiff and I saw the fluid all over the pavement where it was parked. The bolt was loosened off again after tightening it with a wrench anyways today I talked to the guy I bought it from a mechanic he told me to bring it buy hed re-seal it all for 100 bucks but nah I decided Id go have a look again and tried tightening the bolt one more time and add fluid and this time the reservoir was making a sucking sound as I added it and the bolt stayed tight and now the steering is fine, bolt has stayed tight all day no loss in fluid. But my question now is does anybody have any idea what could cause that bolt from loosening out of there? I mean that must take alot of pressure to back it out of there like that.

it may have vibrated out. seems far fetched but i have found some bolts that mysteriously backed out. you can use blue loctite on it if it happens again. just dont use the red as its non-servicable.
