power steering loss

Power steering goes off intermittently and the speedometer goes to Omph.Then the power returns along with the speedometer.Fuid levels are OK though did notice some coalessed yellow fluid at the surface.This is a Q45 96,60000mi. What causes this? kevin

It sounds to me like some electrical problem. Maybe the other Q guys can shine more light on it. Good Luck.

Yellow PS fluid is burnt PS fluid, so you need to change that..

The problem could be in the instrument cluster... The speed sensitive steering actually gets its signal from the IC, so that could cause that.

Or speed sensor itself.

Thanks for that.Where do I locate the speed sensor and how can I replace it? kevin
