Frustrated bleeding my power steering. Pump went bad because of leak in high pressure line. Got a pump and the isis ss braided line and installed. Turned the wheels back and forth to get bubbles out to no avail. Literally did this probably 100 times and the atf was still milky due to bubbles. Gave up and noticed a leak after I cut the car off. Thought I got a bad pump with a leaking gasket so I put the old back on. Did the same with it and fluid never bubbled after turned wheels or anything. Took it for a drive and of course the pump is still shot. Get back and there's bubbles. Figured out leak was from the banjo bolt that came with the new pump. Replaced with old one and now no leaks and no bubbles. How much fluid should it take to fill the system? It's only taking 3/4 a quart to fill and there's no way that's enough as I have read 2+ for people flushing. So I need to know that and also is there some secret to bleeding the system I don't know about?

:werd: Thats what I did. Never looked back. Once you get used to it actually kicks a**.

But even without the pump at all I still used a full quart. And I only drained the resevoir and upper lines. I didn't flush the whole system, I still had atleast half of the origional fluid still in their

manual steering sucks. and there isnt even a manual setup you can use without it being ghetto as hell.

you have to take the center seal out of the rack and pack the whole thing with grease. and if you have a KA in the car still, the ps pump is the tensioner for the water pump.

Manual steering is not an option as my wife drives the car as well. Just tried the new pump again with the same air-filled result. Is it possible something is wrong with the new pump that is causing air not to leave the system? Air goes right out with the old busted pump

Yeah I did it the way described in the tech page on this site. I did find that the new pump I got is leaking so I'm going to return it for another. It is leaking from the neck that connects to the reservoir.
