Power steering issues

So this problem just started out of the blue one day, drove to pick someone up, turned the car off, went inside, came right back out, turned it on, and BAM, problem.

Anyway, there is now a constant droning coming from the engine bay, and the sound gets louder and higher pitched as the RPM's increase. Steering isn't a problem at higher speeds, but in parking lots and tight radius turns and such, the noise gets very loud and the power steering goes in and out. It's really irritating and I imagine quite dangerous depending on the situation, as it is very difficult to turn smoothly. My friends pointed out that my car now sounds reminiscent of Chewbacca...

I'm thinking it's the power steering belt, but I really don't know. Anyone know for sure?

check the power steering fluid level

either your pump has failed or you're just super duper low on fluid.
