So I have had a problem with my ps for about 2 months now, I started running transmission fluid in it to try and keep it going till I got the new one. Well I finally ordered the new one friday and low and behold it siezed up either last night or this morning because on the way back from the hospital my car started losing power. I look at my gauges and notice My temp is almost spiked so I immedatley cut the car off and throw it in neutral. Pop the hood to find the water pump is siezed now. So now I have to change the ps pump, water pump, thermostat, hoses, oil, and I'm just going to swap out the valve cover gasket to be sure that isn't baked, I pray that I didn't crack the head. Any tips anyone can give me in tearing down and replacing these parts, its on a 93 vert with a KA

So you are sure that your power steering pump is bad and it isn't your rack and pinion? My rack just went around x-mas and me and a buddy replaced it while my ps pump is still original. I already had my water pump and thermostat replaced by a shop bc I am in school and usually don't have the time to do these repairs myself. As far as the installs go, they are fairly easy just make sure you have the proper tools for the job ( a torque wrench is a must!!) and you might want to cop a Chilton manual for that 93 vert or borrow one from the library. I went ahead and bought mine and it is helpful with torque specs and a lot of other things. If you can't find it in the Chilton I would look on here but be careful as to what you believe on here GL with the installs!
