power steering was acting up for a while, and just recently went totally dead. swapped the pump, now i can feel that the power steering is helping a little, but its not nearly as strong as it should be. i used valvoline synpower power steering fluid, it was clear, i thought ps fluid was usually red. is it possible that i used the wrong fluid? also, how does one go about bleeding a power steering system? i think that it is quite possible that there is air in it.

yep you used the wrong fluid it supposed to be dexron auto trans fluid which is red like you remember. It bleeds air out all by itself, just make shure the reservoir has enough fluid in there and the bubles will come out there.

i do believe mine is clear like color, cause mine used to leak on 1 of the hoses(fixed), and nothing reddish came out, and mine works just fine.
