My high pressure power steering line is busted, but I can't disconnect the bottom fitting to get the old one out. I am really getting frustrated.
It's this one, where the bottom of the high pressure hose attaches to a hard line:
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From random</td></tr></table>
WTF is the deal with this thing? What were they thinking when they designed this garbage? I've already had to remove the bracket that just holds it out in the middle of nowhere, remove the swaybar and disconnect the other end of the hard line just to get some access to this thing.
I've been trying to use a vise-grip to hold on to the gargantuan, freakish-looking end on the high pressure hose, but the only thing I can manage to do is just bend the hard line. Even with a flare wrench it's hard to get any torque on this thing.
It looks like it'll be really difficult to get the hard line out (but I might need to anyway since I've been mangling the heck out of it). I really need to just get this thing out of the car so I can put it in a benchtop vise. At this point I'm just considering cutting the hard line and flaring a new end on it. But I've never done that before so that's a little scary too.
ARRRGHH!
