hey guys. i searched for this, but no such luck...

I have a 92 hatch with a stock KA. the power steering pump is starting to seize and is starting to leak pretty badly. Is there any way i can disable or remove the pump until i can replace it?

yes, i do realize this will leave me without power steering...

any tips are appreciated...or a link to a walk-through

There was a link on another forum if you can still find it (fresh alloy or zilvia) which detailed the actual belt #'s.

Basic idea:

see you have a 92, which means to remove the power steering pump from the equation, you need a small belt that will go around the water pump/crank pulley w/o a tensioner since the ps pump is the tensioner. There was a part # on one of the other forums like I said, but if you have the patience, you can go to the auto parts store & try different belts until you can get one that barely fits. I don't personally like this idea because the belt can get loose since there is no tensioner and you won't have a spinning water pump...

Technically, that's all you have to do if you plan on keeping power steering.

It's much more recommended tho to get a ps pump quickly and replace it. If you wait too long, you may kill your rack. Might as well check your hi-pressure line too since that may start going bad as well.

There was a power steering delete kit sold a while back by a member on here (if you search for "power steering delete" in Archived section, you'll see the link.
