The power steering on my 91Q remains in the full assist mode even at highways speeds.

The tech at the Infiniti dealership has checked the resistance on both the PS pressure solenoid and the control module and they both check out within spec.

The tech said he has never seen this problem before, usually you lose assist. He thinks it might be a stuck or damage pressure regulator value in the aftermarket rack. Tonight he is going to check the pressure in the PS pump.

Your thoughts, thanks

Marvin

PS pump pressure checked out ok, looks like I will be replacing the rack. Any recommendations on were to purchase a new/rebuilt rack, the dealer is asking $1500.

Thanks

Guess we can assume you haven't flushed the ps system recently. BG makes a PS flush machine and special PS cleaner. If they have BG Quick Flush for transmission machine you might use 1/4 of a can [3 ounces max] and let it circulate for 30 minutes exercising the rack back and forth . Then replace the PS fluid a few times. If that doesn't fix it move on to another rebuilt rack and maintain it better.
