Make sure the A/c Clutch switch is fully connected, I don't really know why it wouldn't kick on otherwise.

Did you unhook the p/s pump when changing engines? If so, it might be possible you have air in the system causing your problems. I believe the way to bleed the system is to get the front tires off the ground and, with the engine running, to turn the steering wheel lock to lock to get the fluid pumping through the system. If there is air, make sure to keep the reservoir filled so that more air doesn't enter the system.

As for the air conditioner, make sure there's pressure in the system. If you have pressure then you have to start tracking down a likely electrical problem, which I'm actually going through myself right now.

I'm going to give the steps to check for various problem areas below. I'll need to know what year your Z is and whether it has auto or manual climate control to continue after step 5 if you haven't found the problem yet.

To start:1. When you turn the A/C on by either pressing the Auto button on the auto climate control or A/C button on manual, does the engine start idling high? If so:

2. Turn the A/C system on so that the engine idles high, pull the relay out of the box in the engine bay, and get a decent sized wire to jump the two wires on the front side of the box (they are the two female blade terminals that are sitting next to each other). If your A/C clutch kicks in, the clutch is fine.

3. Next would be to double check the relay itself. You can either change relays around to see if the A/C works or you can supply 12 volts and a ground to the terminals on the coil side of the relay that are spread apart:| | <- coil side of the relay ||If you hear a click, the relay is working.

4. If your relay works you need to then check to see if the wiring to and through your pressure switch is ok. I would actually skip this step and start with step 5. If you are not getting voltage at the ECU, then continue step 4 from here.

The pressure gauge is located on the drier which is located right in front of the condenser on the passenger's side. If you have an aftermarket bumper with a big opening you should easily be able to reach it. If not, you should be able to get to it by pulling out the intake box/filter and it will be below that. Its a cylinder with two lines hooked to it and a sensor with two wires sticking out of it. Pull the wire connector apart and check that one of the terminals has 12 volts while the key is in the on position. I can't remember which terminal is supposed to have voltage but only one of them will. I recommend getting a needle to stick in the terminal as that makes it much easier to touch with a multimeter probe. If you have voltage, your wiring between the sensor and relay is fine.

5. Next is to test the switch itself. Plug the wire back in at the switch and go the inside of the car to the ECU. You need to check terminal 9 for 12 volts while the ignition is in the on position. It should be an orange wire and is two terminals away from the bolt that secures it. You can see terminal 9 here http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/300zx/1994/foldout.pdf. Put a needle in the same plug as the orange wire and test for 12 volts there. If you are getting 12 volts then your pressure switch is fine.

Step 6 and on changes depending on the model year of your car and whether it has auto or manual climate control. Let me know which it is and I can continue on from here.

Did you bleed the air out of the PS system? Usually air shows up as froth in the reservoir. It works pretty well to jack the front off the ground and turn the wheel lock to lock a whole bunch of times.
