Q45 Fam! I am in need of a power steering pump or simply the parts from it. I have a leak in the image provided where the numbers are listed on the pump. The rest of my pump actually runs great it simply has the leak where the numbers are listed. I am not sure if I can purchase this separately. When I shop around for pumps I do not see that part located on some pumps and on others I do see a similar part attached. If anyone has a good pump with all the parts please let me know asap as its getting cold and out and I gotta get this done asap. Picture link here

Wanted to provide an update on my pwr streering situation...after using brake fluid ( this is after previously using pwr steering fluid, lucas stop leak, transmission fluid) my leak or instant pouring out of fluid has completely stopped for the past 3 days. Used this on 97 q45!

I believe your 'solution' will be temporary at best.
as to your original question above, the piece with the p/n screened onto it (as shown in the ebay photo) is removable from the pump housing. there are two copper washers that crush slightly to provide a good seal. those copper washers are likely all you need to fix IF the source of the leak is indeed there.

Thx for the reply and info 3Q Jay! I actually used the brake fluid bc i didnt have any more pwr steering on hand and was waiting for a pump i ordered to be shipped. Since friday there has been not one drop of a leak! I will see how long this lasts before i replace the pump

I also tightened that piece with the p/n screened onto it, so maybe thats what stopped the leak. But i shall wait and see, and will keep you up to date! Again thx for the info and reply!

M1 ATF highly recommended as the preferred fill. Brake fluid is not what you want as it is too hygroscopic.

Usually it is the rack that fails for lack of fluid changes or failed boots.
