On my 97 the power antenna only goes up when the radio is switched to FM/AM but is DOWN on CD and Tape (discovered this hooking up an amp)

Are the Bose speakers in the Q like those in some other cars where each speaker is individually amped? If so, they may have a hot wire running to them.

I think it is operated by the remote wire on the radio. Do you have a stock radio?

What you can do is grab the power antenna wire behind your radio and cut it off from the harness going into the radio.

Now that one wire yoru holding, will be a wire that goes all the way to the trunk/power antenna. Now grab that wire, and splice it into the accesory/ignition wire on your radio, OR back to your igntion cylinder harness.

Then the power antenna wire/power antenna will be ignition/accy powered

Find a wiring diagram and see if the "factory" trunk mounted phone brain was pre-wired and is of sufficient gauge.

I thought it was to the left of the FPCM, but it's not shown in this illustration.Click

Yeah, but in the world of XM, you can just disable the antenna completely.

Your best bet is to run a wire from the fuse box or the ignition switch harness with a 15-20A inline fuse. There might be a few power wires back there but if you are really going to draw 15 amps I doubt any of them would be safe to use. I doubt any OEM circuits back there have 15 amps extra capacity built in from factory. I wouldn't hardwire the power antenna to ignition because if you went through a car wash you couldn't put down the antenna manually unless you also added an on/off switch to that wire up front. The power antenna will have a contant power wire and one that turns on/off with the radio. Cell phone box will prob. have a constant and and ignition hot but it's likely only 10A.

I don't think I'd use any OEM circuits for more than about 5 amps continuous.

Checked out the trunk wiring when I got home tonight and I took a photo of the cell phone plug/wires. Here's a photo. The two larger red wires are constant 12VDC+ and the smaller blue wire is switched ignition 12VDC+. The switched wire I wouldn't try to run much with but you could add a relay to switch the power from the larger red wires with the blue wire. The blue wire would only have to turn on/off the relay (.5 amps+/-) and the relay could in turn control up to 30/40 amps. I can supply a diagram for this if you need one. The common SPDT relays I use have 5 terminals all numbered. Wire #85 to ground, #86 to the blue ignition wire, #30 to one of the red constant 12V+ wires and #87 to your accessory, and #87a would be unused. This would turn your accessory on when the key was switched on.

You know probably the easiest way would be to use that cell phone trigger wire that was mentioned earlier. Run a small wire from your battery all the way to the trunk and then hook it up to a relay via the trigger.. Should be simple.

I wouldnt want to draw off the fuel pump... BAD idea!

I concur about the fuel pump. I wouldn't touch that.

If you are going to the trouble to run a wire from your battery I'd just run a few more spares from the dash area while your at it. When I install a big system I almost always run a couple extra while I'm in there for future enhancements. Once you have a high current 12 volt supply back there you only need small wires to control relays and you can do almost anything you could ever need to do in the trunk.

So that's what you've been working on! Train horns are crazy. There are some clips on streetfire.com of people scaring the heck out of people with those. Super funny stuff . Search for "horn" on that site and you'll get a bunch of clips.
