I'm not really sure what's going on with my car's power sockets. Both the socket underneath the radio and the other underneath the center console/armrest work on occasion but it's rare. I had gotten a lot of audio equipment installed which is all connected to the battery and this issue hasn't occurred before then, but the odd part is the power adapter works for a minute, shuts off. I have to unplug it then plug it back into the socket and it works again. Sometimes it stays working, other times it stops completely until I turn the car off/back on. The fuse was changed already so it can't be that. Happens with both sockets. Are they just not receiving enough power from the battery or what? I do use a more powerful adapter as well, but nothing it shouldn't be able to handle (with 2.1A and 1.0A USB ports) since the fuse is supposed to handle 15A if I'm not mistaken. Ideas? Really frustrating.

I was gonna say fuses as well but you changed those. Hmm, that is weird. Let me ask some of our soundheads, maybe they know.

Could it be possible they changed the wrong fuse or a fuse that doesn't accept a high amperage? The issue started a little before that, but if I recall correctly, was during the same visit (troubleshooting audio setup they installed). Now the sockets aren't working at all.

You did plug something else into the sockets to test them & rule out a faulty adapter? If so, then I would check the grounding. I've had numerous electrical mysteries over the years that often turned out to be loose or broken ground connections, & once an installer inadvertently disconnected the ground wire on my remote start. When both my fogs went at once, the ground had come loose. Did you say they both either work or don't at the same time, or is one ever working when the other's not? On my '10 the dash socket is wired into accessory & the console one directly into the battery. I assume the '08 is the same. I haven't checked, but I doubt there's one fuse for both.

There are times of both. I haven't bothered to use another adapter, but I'm almost positive that's not the issue. I've gotten this particular adapter replaced three times since I thought it was the issue; it wasn't. Today, neither adapter worked. Yesterday, one worked a bit better than the other but still really difficult to get either to work. Nonetheless, I noticed that they start working a little after the car is moving for a bit. It still sporadically charges and doesn't afterwards but just a trend. I don't know if the installer should be at fault and I should bring it up again or what.... it's been months since I was there.
