I've had numerous electrical mysteries over the years that often turned out to be loose or broken ground connections, & once an installer inadvertently disconnected the ground wire on my remote start. When both my fogs went at once, the ground had come loose. Did you say they both either work or don't at the same time, or is one ever working when the other's not? On my '10 the dash socket is wired into accessory & the console one directly into the battery. I assume the '08 is the same. I haven't checked, but I doubt there's one fuse for both.
There are times of both. I haven't bothered to use another adapter, but I'm almost positive that's not the issue. I've gotten this particular adapter replaced three times since I thought it was the issue; it wasn't. Today, neither adapter worked. Yesterday, one worked a bit better than the other but still really difficult to get either to work. Nonetheless, I noticed that they start working a little after the car is moving for a bit. It still sporadically charges and doesn't afterwards but just a trend. I don't know if the installer should be at fault and I should bring it up again or what.... it's been months since I was there.
