I know this was brought up way back, but I can't find it.

My power socket just started to blow its fuse. I tried replacing it, but it just keeps popping them. Mostly just annoying that I can't charge my phone and I can't get my car in to the dealer until next week.

Anyone had this issue?

Dude, you have a brand spanking new car. go to the dealer and get it checked out this could be WAYYYY more then just a fuse poping. I would take out the fuse and go to the dealer explain whats happening and go from there. Post with your results.

This was posted way back by OKVersa, I think.

The problem was stemming from a poor fit between the power socket and the charger. I do not recall what the resolution was.

By the way, the power sockets on these are rather low amperage. Don't even think about trying to run a laptop off of one.

You've gotta be kidding EV...????

I got myself a 75W inverter from Canadian Tire (regularly $30 got on sale for $10) and it powers my wife's laptop in the Versa no problem.

To the OP, the manuals says "Avoid using power outlets when the airconditioner, headlights or rear window defroster is on." You might want to at least be ready to tell the dealer that's not the issue.

As far as power to that plug goes, the manual also says that the plug is rated for a maximum of 12Volt, 120W (10A). So your 75W laptop converter should be just fine. You may well be able to draw more than that, but the problem is that you're start overheating the cables running power to the plug and they may melt and burn. Not good.

Are you Effing kidding me? It's summer! It gets to 105 here in August. The AC is on constantly.

It's been working fine for 10 months until now. I just have to get some free time to drive it into town. Hopefully Tuesday.

If your laptop was built any time in the last 3 years or so, it's intelligent enough to know when it's power draw is excessive. the full 75W that its adapter uses is enough to power the machine and charge its battery. It will use less power and slow down the rate of battery recharge if there is not enough juice available.

75W isn't too bad on power for a notebook either. My wife's 120W HP (inefficient piece of crap) would wreak havoc with the V. My Gateway is only 65W. Turion FTW!

If I remember, the outlet is good for 10 amps. Mine did not work initially until I looked at the bottom of the outlet. The factory only plugged in one leg of the L-plug. You can access the bottom of the outlet by pulling up on the six-speed boot and then the plug outlet panel lifts up. Maybe the problem is a simple short. I agree that the dealer should be involved beyond that.

It's a Thinkpad (a year or two old), power adapter reads 16V @ 4.5A which should be 72W. Seemed to work ok with the 75W inverter, so far (but I only tried it for a test run). Will find out for sure the week after next when I road trip to Nova Scotia.

Do you use Verizon as your wireless carrier? If so, the reason your fuse is blowing is due to the fact that Verizon has yet to update their car chargers to to not draw so much amperage. All you have to do to resolve this is push in the charger until the power light comes on and then no farther. You push it in any farther, the fuse will blow again.

Wierd. I am. thanks for the tip. the guy at the dealership blamed it on my power cord. I just dont understand why it would take 10 months to start malfunctioning.

I am due for a new phone this month so I was hoping that that would take care of the problem. I will definately bring this up to the verizon guys when I go.
