Power seats on 2003 I35 do not work

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum as I just bought a 2003 I35 last week and I already faced my first problem.

The power seats module does not work for either of the two front seats. When I press the button I hear a click but there is no movement. The person I bought the car from said something about the tracks (or trackings?) that need to be replaced and I wanted to know what he meant by it?

Anyone have any idea how I can about diagnosing this? Anyone have any experience with this type of problem before? Any type of help will be greatly appreciated.

don't worry, your post is not that terrible. the track is what the seats slide on but it seems like they're just stuck. try spraying some wd 40 on the tracks and have someone push/pull when you press a button to slide them.might also be the motor going out.

I removed the driver's seat to try and figure out what is happening

Once I removed the seat and pressed the forward/backward button the right hand side track started moving but the left hand side one did not. (When the seat is intact and I press the button I can hear the motor trying to work but it doesnt work.) When I removed the seat the motor worked but only one side moved leaving the seat uneven.

Now I can see that the motor is working but I cant move the seat until both sides work. Also nothing happens when I press the other button to adjust the height of the seat.

Seems like there is a mix of wiring problem as well as the equipment problem.

Anyone know how much it would cost me at the Dealership to get the power seats working again?
