I know you guys hate these posts. But here's the deal: like everyone and their mother I'm planning an RB swap. **EDIT** RB25DET motor.

Now I got most of the parts sourced and quoted, still searching for a few things though. My plan is too buy the motor-set and replace everything I can get my hands on. All the accesories and crap will be replaced along with all the gaskets and seals, etc.

My goal for the car is 420+rwhp on pump as pretty much daily driver. My current turbo of choice is the SC61. I'm debating on what software to use. Race gas doesn't really matter as much because it will seldomly be in the car.

Now for my question. Should I take the process slow and build the bottom end with forged internals? Or refresh the motor and use a MHG with ARP studs and put the motor in with stock bottom end?

I see stories of people pushing 500+ on stock motors, stock HG, etc. Realistically, would 420rwhp be reliable for a daily driver?

Not building I could easily have the motor in and uprgraded turbo/fuel/managment by the summer. If I build it it'll take probably till this time next year to get the power levels I want.

Do I need to build it to daily drive 420rwhp? Thanks for the input guys

The RB25 motor. And when I say all the accessories I mean the pumps and belts etc. Not alternator and starter. Any other input?

Thanks for the help so far guys.

at that level over 400 hp, id replace the headgasket with a thicker one, studs, timing belt, w/p, fuel injectors obviously.. possibly the intake to a greddy plenum.. 3 inch intercooler piping, 3 inch straight back exhaust, custom turbo mani, with external waste... maybe cams.. not sure.. but thats just me.. its on your budget man. on yea power FC for management..

put it in .. get it running then start upgradeing.... if it is not broke do not fix it... I would only change the timeing belt at most... but mine is still stock.

I wouldn't change the HG solely because I've never heard of an RB25 HG failing. IT seems the Ring lands will go before the HG. I'd run some ARP studs, meth injection, better ball bearing turbo and a PFC with datalogit.

~400whp and 18psi of boost and my hg was in mint condition when i tore the motor down.its when you start running stupid boost (20+) that the head will lift.water injection is a good idea not only as a power adder but also for increaced cooling and the added saftey.

I bought a new "super strong" timing belt, put a big *** rip through it within 2 minutes of putting the belt on. Put the stock one back on, its been running fine since.
