I have both a standalone GPS device and a radar detector that sits on the dash. I've seen some solutions such as http://www.stealthcords.com and http://www.invisicord.com where it taps in to the power coming from the rear-view mirror, but that was specifically for radar detectors, and it also requires the radar detector to sit pretty high up on the windshield (right under the rear view mirror).

I'm looking to have both these devices sit on the dash without all the wires running to the cigarette adapter on the console. Does anyone have any suggestions or elegant solutions for something like this?

I actually mounted mine next to the rear view mirror which is nice because it is hidden, mitigating risk of theft.

For $35, Best Buy ran the cord to the fuse box. Best part is they will remove for free when I sell the car.

would you mind posting a pic of your setup? what did you use to mount next to the rear view mirror? just the standard suction cups?

has anyone tried this? wanted to get some feedback before considering this since it's $40.

I mounted mine next to mirror also and quite like it that high up. Wife can also adjust while driving if it goes off. I came off the power in the light unit. Don't mess with the yellow and black wires (air bag) or you will have to reset

are you also just using the suction cup mounts it came with? or something sturdier? do you notice that it's not as sensitive with it mounted higher up?
