Hi, I bought a 91 240sx a couple months back and it was running fine. Starting about three weeks ago the car has to go in to high rpms before it would start moving. Whenever I would switch gears I would have to rev really high for the car to actually pull. Lately I've been smelling burning oil. I put some oil in the car already but it still has the same problem. For some reason the clutch is pressed in half way. Does that have anything to do with my problem. It starts fine and everything it just runs really bad. Do I need to replace my oil? or could it be something else? Thanks

Your probably smelling clutch. It sounds like your burning the hell out of your clutch disk. Does the odor smell more like raw sewer then oil?

If I know the smell from anywhere it's a burning clutch. Do keep in mind this is a car that I was using to learn how to drive stick with. Would changing my clutch be a good choice?

Yes ,and do the whole kit not just the disc. The pressure plate,T/O bearing and pilot bushing as well. Also it sounds like you may also need to bleed the clutch hydrolic system as well being the pedal is at half mast. Check for any leaks at the slave and the master.
