Power FC users... need help with windows 8

so i need to get a tune done on my car but the laptop i last tuned on is no longer working and i bought a new one with windows 8. I cant get FCedit to connect. on the device manager it shows a yellow ! with the prolific usb to serial driver. anyone have a clue on how to fix this so i can get my tune?

I'm not a computer expert, but you might have to run windows 7 as an emulator. Does anybody know what I'm talking about who can provide more details on that?

If you are using the software that came with the PFC kit then it's probably out of date for Win8. Try contacting Apexi and see if they have an updated version of the software they can send you - tell them the trouble you're having.

wasn't there a thread recently on FC datalogit's yahoo page that walked ppl through the update to make it work? Something to do with some deep root files or something.

Went to bestbuy and checked out their adapters. Picked up a new one windows 8 compatible and everything works. The older adapters chipset or something is out dated for windows 8.
