My BNR32 had a Power FC installed by the previous owner. He removed it to sell it separately, but I ended up buying it. Today, I reinstalled it. I followed the directions, 30-minute warmup, etc. I had to turn off the boost controller to get the check engine light to go off.

The car seems to run great, more power than before. However, I hear a rapid ticking noise when I rev above 2000 rpm. It seems to come from the passenger footwell, from the new Power FC box. Is this normal for a Power FC? The noise doesn't seem to change with speed or RPM, it just suddenly begins at 2000 and stays the same.

Uninstall it again see if tick goes away.
If the car runs fine maybe just put something to deaden the sound over it.
Why 2,000 rpm is the biggest puzzle.
Does this correlate with like say the rpm which boost comes "on".
Maybe at 2,000 rpm your alternator reaches max output.
That is a tough one...
Never seen any standalone or prom tune make a tick.
Only thing in there is chips capacitors transistors.....
I know most stuff like that uses timer stuff that I suppose could make other stuff tick.
Send it to Apexi for inspection? Your in Japan so might be as easy as a walk to the mail box.

I just had the car into the shop for timing belt, fuel filter, and spark plugs change. The ticking noise has now stopped.
