Okay, So I know that Apex'i doesnt make a PFC application for the CA18DET, but from what I have heard it is a great unit. I was just wondering if anyone knows if a SR20DET one or another one can be adapted to use on a CA18DET. I have heard before that people have adapted a SR20 ECU on to their CA18s by changing the pins and reprogramming the ECU to run the CA. I guess this would be because the SR uses a 16bit while the CA uses an 8 bit ecu? Am I correct in this? Do you think that the stock maps for the PFC for a redtop would run a CA well if the pins were modified? Let me know what you guys think!!

Shah(hopefully CA18DET w PowerFC soon)

Yes they do make a Power FC for the CA. You have to get it from an APEXi dealer directly though. email Apex usa and find out how to get one.

I actually dont live too far away from their US office so I was just gonna go by and ask them about it. Do you think this would be a good choice? How much does the whole system with commander usually run?

If you want the computer, commander and optional boost control sloenoid I would have at least $1500.00 ready. For some reason over here the CA computer is more than the the standard unit, maybe it requires some setup at the dealer. I would count on a wait for it to be shipped, I doubt they have it in stock.

I live in Japan and they don't list it in all their catalogs even here. There are a handful of computers that can only be purchased at Power Excel dealers, the CA is one I beleive the FC3S RX7 also.

Interesting...so it's done that way so ONLY the Power Excel shops know about it, and it can be installed correctly? That must mean it's more difficult to get one installed into the older cars,

No, I think they are just being jerks to the CA guys. They also make a special Drag version that takes out the rev cut

Got the Apexi catalog right here. the part number for the CA18DET(for japan at least) is 4E14NO2Z, It retails (in 99' at least which is the catalog I am referring to) at 118000 yen.

The FC commander retails (once again in 99') at 35000 yen.

The Boost control kit retails (in 99') at 38000 yen.

Adding that up and using a conservative exchange rate of Y115= $1 we get $1661.00

Now I am positive the prices must have dropped since then but I would still set aside $1500.00 for a complete package.
