I put an power fc on my rb25 and it started up great and idels well. When when it hits about 7lbs of boost it shuts off and chokes. when we put in the stock ecu it runs fine. Does anyone know what is wrong, also the tack goes out on the power fc also. I thought it was plug and play.

If your losing tach, there is something wrong.

Are you sure its the right power FC for your car? There is a base tune in there and it should run fine.

Did you make sure the timing was dead on before hooking up the PFC? That is key to have a good running engine.

Did you go through the proper idle learn procedure?

if you bought it new listen to the guys above.

if you bought it used, set timing then you need to initialize the PFC(resets map to basemap if its been tuned), then do idle learn and all other first start stuff.

had a problem just like this with my s13 wit a sr in it, i had to take out pin by pin in the ecu plug and there is a little flap inside each pin that i pressed them back down again cause they wernt getting a good connection, before u do that un mount the ecu and while its running move some wires around and see if it misses then runs good or anything good luck, and bye to pull the pins out use a pic to flip the flaps open and then use it to unclip the pin and pull it out

When you set the timing, make sure the car is up to operating temperature or the ECU will be retarding the timing up to ~80C.

Also, if you haven't seen this, here's a link to the idle learn instructions:http://paulr33.skylinesaustral...l.pdf

ive tried everything with my power FC....it was brand new and I reset it twice...did idle learn procedure multiple times...turned off boost control...did everything besides mess with the maps. I brought the car with PFC to a tuner and they tried as well. They swore they could tune anything...turns out they couldnt. Anyway, I put the stock ecu back on last night. Idle problems & shutting off - disappeared. horrible A/F ratios - disappeared. I'm boxing up the PFC and putting on eBay.

Yes it comes default ON and you have to turn it OFF before you start it and do the idle learn procedure.
