do you need the boost control kit with the datalogit to control boost or can the datalogit with teh power fc control it for you?

just got the datalogit in this morning and was wondering

You need the boost control kit.

You should join the Yahoo forums for the FC datalogit software.

You can use a GM 3 bar map sensor to log boost, I posted it up on the Yahoo board.

really? damn that is some good news to hear! i didnt want to shell out another 350 for the boost kit after i bought the fc, commander and datalogit already, and already have a blitz ebc.

ill look it up when i get home... i joined but never really searched in it.

do you happen to have a link to where you posted it?

It is cheaper to go with the boost control kit if you don't already have a decent electronic boost controller. The boost control kit comes with its own map sensor and wiring to connect into the PFC. The boost from a separate map sensor will have to be wired thru the datalogit (or other EMS/logger)control box as an AUX 0-5V input. This also means that you need to know the correlation between the pressure and voltage out output of the map sensor. May or may not be linear. I'm not sure on that part.

The main reason I did this was because I already had the 3 bar sensor installed for my alcohol injection. I posted the curve on the power FC forum. I don't remember what it is, you will have to look yourself. My user ID is RB25DETS14 on there.

I used my TPS +5v to power it. I am changing it to use a little 5v regulator that they have in stock at rat-shack.

Darius, I agree its best to do the boost control kit if you don't have an EBC already. FYI, there is a thread on the FC forums on how to use a different boost solenoid besides the Apexi one.

Sweet! Nice work. I haven't been keeping up on the datalogit usergroup mostly because people either have the same stupid questions or they have questions regarding tuning theory that is over my head and I can't really read it.

ok after playing around, i think I have it, but not sure until the sensor gets here and i actually try it out

but i power the sensor with 5v (tps sensor easiest place to get 5v?) and ground it, and the 3rd wire goes to my datalogit box. lets say i run it to AN2. then i go into setup auxilary menu and enter

Volts Value Unit1.58 0 PSI4.01 22.5

what about that poly box? do i need to do anything else or should that be all that i need to do boost logging?

i dont think you need to worry about the poly box if you only have 2 data points. linear you can just put in those 2 values. things like widebands you need to use the poly box to get a 2nd degree curve to closer approximate your values

No idea, get out the pinout and take a look. OR you could use a multimeter?

do u know if the gm 3 bar map sensor would work with the boost kit map sensor harness? i found out u can get the harness that plugs into the fc for around $40 from nengun. they also have the sensor but its like $150. id like to do that, for a cleaner install and i could read boost from the hand controller too that way.

nevermind, i figured it out, i didnt have the Aux A/D box checked in the montor window.

is the lowest vacuum reading it can read -11? becase at idle it reads -11 even though on my boost gauge its -16 to -19
