i just finished replacing my timing guide, and while i was at it, fixed a busted exhaust pipe, and replaced distrib cap/rotor. Before i did all this, the car had a really nice powerband from about 3500 to 5800. now, after about 4600-4800 the power just seems to kinda die off, and when i shift after running to about 5800, there seems to be a very slight delay from the time i step on the gas again, to the time the engine resumes accelerating. I'm not even quite sure where to start hunting this one at...

Sounds like your timing is slightly off....

Chances are you futzed your timing or cam phasing. Check the timing and do a compression test.

well, i havn't gotten a chance to go diggin yet, but the problem seems to have fixed itself last night. Was driving around, decided to step on it, and the power was back, and the delay is gone. Still gonna run tests to see how motor checks out, but i'm somewhat happier that its back to its old self again. I know its not timing cause the chain never got taken off, and the distributer is lined up perfectly.
