The power door locks on my '94 AUTOMATICALLY and spontaneously LOCKED, by themselves on two recent occasions: I opened the drive door from the inside to get out, and a few days later this happened when I opened the driver's door from the OUTSIDE to get in.

Any helpful and specific ideas on what is causing this? Two times in one week, and just now, after 4 years of service.

Possible an aftermarket alarm is on the car? I've had that happen before with a viper alarm, some are set to lock after so long, etc, etc. Just a thought.

Yes, there is remnants of an after market alarm system, but I don't know where the 'brains' are. There was a little toggle switch by my left foot, and I think a horn. I will look around. Thanks.

Since I have been having issues with the 204SX S13 AT recently, maybe there is a gremlin in the car, but I am asking for constructive thoughts, just like the alarm.

Wow, what a trip. I had (have?) the exact same problem and I mean exact. Spontaneously locked me out on several accasions. Luckily only one was with the roof up abnd the keys inside. I had to break in. Mine also had a horn under the hood and a small switch (valet switch) on the driverside kick panel. Other than those two things I could find no other evidence, least of all any auto door locks/unlocks like solenoids/actuators etc. I wish I could offer some help but I'm still clueless as well. Good luck and if you learn anything be sure to post it here. -Glyph

Glyph, there is a black box about the size of a fat cigarette pack that says something like 'door lock timer - do not drop' It has wire plug to an -8- point connection on the box and box that must do something...

It is on power door lock S-13 and it is behind the ECU on the right side kick panel.
