On my 92 240sx (vert, but parts should be the same for 91-94), the power door locks quit working a couple weeks ago.

I thought it would be the door lock timer after reading some similar threads, so replaced that, and still same problem.

Basically, if you lock/unlock the driver side door, the passenger side does not respond.

I also have an alarm hooked up to this (which I will troubleshoot next if no other ideas):

Unlock - will unlock doors, but 1-2 seconds later lock both doors. - From this, I'm figuring the door lock actuators themselves are working.

Lock - doesn't lock or unlock doors (arms the system, but power door locks are untouched).

I've completely disconnected the alarm to make sure it wasn't affecting the door locks. Locking/Unlocking driver side still behaved the same.

Any ideas?

Are you sure that that alarm is completely disconnected? to hook an alarm up to the power locks on an s13 you have to interrupt a wire (icut it and put a relay inline). Make sure that you connect this wire back to stock or this still may lead to a bad connection. just disconnecting the alarm brain wouldn't solve the problem is it is indeed an alarm problem.

The other issue is that it could still be your door actuator. the diver's door is a 5 wire actuator and has a sensor inside it to tell the door lock timer if it is locked or unlocked. if that part is broken then the motor will still work but it will send the wrong signal to the passenger side motor.

For 91-94, the wire is a single one & set up differently than 89-90 (the one where you splice) - I only know that because I have both, haha.

I'll take it all apart this weekend and see.

I'll look into the door actuator... if someone knows which voltage/signals & which wires I should check, that'd be GREAT!

I had a similar thing happen to my 89, I'd lock the doors and after a time they would pop back open or sometimes immidiately it'd kick back as soon as I turn the key.

My problem was the bolts that held the actuator fell out of the door, found the bolts and put them back in and they work fine now.

Thanks for the input, I'll definitely look into that this weekend!

I swaped out the switches and still the same problem. I have some interior mods to do in the next week or so. I plan on cracking open the door pannel and takeing a closer look any advice on what to look for???

So far... still have a sort of problem...

Found some exposed wiring in the door harness, patched those up, still no go.

Replaced the Power Door Lock Actuator in the driver door - sort of fixed the problem.

Now both door locks react, but very oddly - i.e. a lot of times, trying to lock or unlock the door, both locks go crazy a few times. Hopefully the hinge/rods connected to the door lock stuff just need some adjustment or something, iono...

The best option if you dont already have powerlocks is to buy after market accuators and hook them into alarm system for activasion depending on alarm brand whole process shouldn't take more then like 2 hours. If you know alarm brand and model i could tell you excactly which wires to hook into. Hope it helps.

Try greasing the lock assy. themselves as weird as that sounds i had a prob on the 93. what happens is the locks dont quite fully ingage and they hang for a second then kick back to previous postion or try to re accuate but still can't make it.
