No ones fault but mine...

Was in downtown New Haven CT and found a too good to be true parking spot, one of those spaces that was actually two open spots so you could just dive into the spots and ease into the front one.... CRAP!! Hit the very attractive "granite" curb and hosed up my front right wheel pretty good....

No advice needed, just venting.... SO glad I haven't gone with new wheels and tires or I would be in orbit right now! My own carelessness as no excuse but it still PISSES me off....

Feel better now.... BTW still love my little car!

Hate it when that happens. I curbed my wheels twice in one day. I was having a a really bad day to begin with. Luckily both rashes were on the same wheel.

I feel your pain!

Curbing wheels is rediculously easy with stretched tires. Have to be 100% alert and careful every day... Even just grazing the curb marks up the lip since the tire doesn't cover it.

I curbed a wheel driving once, my 85 year old neighbor was essentially swerving at me so I had to dip to the right real hard and overshot it right into the curb. Dude gets out of the car and asks what happened to my wheel as Im inspecting it...

This past spring when I was switching over to my summer wheels I had one pretty much standing on its own as I went around the other side of the car to get my jack. I hear a huge clunk and then rattle like when you drop a quarter. It was a windy day, wheel fell over, rattled around on itself a few times and chewed up like 11 of 15 spokes. FACEPALM...

It is the worst feeling in the world, but you get over it.

Bummer Allen :(

In all the cars I've owned I've never curbed a wheel. Somehow in this car I've managed to curb each of them. I've spent at least $500 getting them repaired. Feel better?

This may really tweak some folks here, but I opted for the AC because it was going to be my daily driver. A fun car that I could beat on and not feel really terrible about it!

That is no disrespect toward the AC, but I would be much more upset if the same thing had happend in one of my previous cars (300 SRT8, Camaro SS convertible etc) or if I had opted for one of the other cars I was shopping like an Audi S5 or a Corvette Grand Sport... Yes I know there is little comparison in those to the AC, but there is a little comparison in in sticker price too!

I guess I need to start shopping for new wheels/tires and a lowering kit! ;) Gotta say, a new set of Continental Extreme DWS tires and these wheels may solve the problem:

I've always made a note to myself after the first curb rash on my first car: Leave a gap. I realized alot of people get a matter of inches or even centimeter to the curb and I don't trust myself to park like that.

Power mirrors are the key to avoiding curb rash when parallel parking. When I'm working my way into a spot I use the controls to manipulate the passenger mirror to show the curb and side of car. Just angle it hard down. It sure beats guessing .

I've curbed a set of ASAs on my winter setup. Way cheaper than AlexMs beautiful works but no matter what you have the sound reverberates through you. Just an all around bad feeling.

If Im not mistaken, you can actually be ticketed for parking to far from the curb.

You think we're spoiled? Go to Arizona. Now THOSE bastards are lucky with their dark limo tints all around and eliminated cats and no day light savings

maybe people think we got it easy but in this area especially Los Angeles, the cops are very strict so nope we got it as hard as anyone else.

djBeasy- i knw i could get a ticket but id rather get that than curb the wheel.
plus for some reason ive never heard anyone get a ticket for parking too far from the curve.

If memory serves, curbs in New Haven are absurdly high, too.

There is a range of inches that is acceptable in Tennessee, like 4 to 12 inches from the curb lol.

I curbed my wheel trying to splash water in a big puddle against the curb lol I was doing twenty so it was quite the scrape

Hahaa for one I said 20mph, so not really high speeds here!!! And up at school it can rain for like 3 dreary days in a row and the post rain celebration is widespread!! I always get in my car and drive around and stuff and I guess I was just happy it had stopped raining... plusssss honestly I splash every damn puddle I find, I think it's so freaking fun!!!!

The problem wasn't actually a parallel parking issue... It was more the fact that two spaces were open so I didn't have to parallel park! I dove into the two spaces too hot and obviously too close!

On a related note, does anyone here have any thoughts on the wheels I posted above??
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/MiniWhee ... ue&sw=1440

My car is white (Winter Frost) but I am unfamiliar with the brand (Bremmer Kraft). Just curious opinions here. If I went with new wheels, I would also drop it a bit (1.5"-2") and add a few other goodies from Racingline but all of this would need to wait until Spring...

Yes I know the adage about opinions- everyone has one and some do in fact stink a lot more than others, but asking anyway!
