power antenna wiring

ive decided to replace my antenna today the old one wasn't going all the way down and water was gettin inside. looks like it's OEM antenna too. i've got the new one installed now i need some wiring expertise. i've searched b4 i'm posting too, so don't hate. i can't read wiring diagrams i was checking out the EL manual .pdf file.... im pretty sure i have the hot and ground wires figured out, i just need to know which wire from the harness is the "remote" wire (the one that comes from the head unit that tells it when to go up and down.) anyone?

how do you replace antenna's anyway? Where do you get them? Mine squeeks when it goes down. Don't know wheather its old or just need a new one. Sorry for taking over the thread. Please answer both me and james questions.

driftking, i just bought a new one on ebay it was pretty cheap. they are kinda universal, my old antenna was OEM so it still had the mounts and all, i just grinded the hole bigger and it fit. ive replaced a power antenna b4 on my old vert but i had amps in the trunk too so the wiring was really easy...im not so fortunate now and i have to tap into the factory wiring, which seems like the have 40 million wires for one thing. im not going to cut and splice till i know what to do.

so you bought a whole knew antenna on ebay (like i did) and just used the parts for your OEM antenna?

check this website out, http://www.installdr.com/Harne...g.pdf. As you can see, pin N coming off the harness that connects to your radio is the one that controls your power antenna. I'm not sure if the factory harness will connect to newer style radios but i'm sure there's harness adaptors out there that youi can use.

wow thanks! dead post awakened. i wired it differently now. since i have a powered sub with remote wire, i just used the pos and neg and remote connections on my amp to do the antenna and it works perfect. thanks for the info though i'll save it for later.
