Today I was driving and I was in a bit of a rush, and there is a pretty big lip in my driveway and I went over it faster than usual and it was more of an aggressive bump than usual but I didn't scrape so I thought all was good. When I got out of my car I noticed that my antenna was up so I got back into my car turned it on then off again to see if it would go back down and it didn't, I heard the motor running but it didn't move. A bit later I came back to it then turned on and off the car again and when the motor was running to go down I pushed the antenna down with the motor and then turned my car back in and it went up then got stuck and I heard a grinding noise and I pulled it up the rest of the way. Does anyone know how to fix it, like is this a common problem and I just have to take it apart and do something?
Anything would help, Thanks

There's usually a glorified grass-trimmer cord inside those antennas to push them up and down. It sounds like yours snapped and then jammed. On the older ones from the Z's you could disassemble them and replace the cord, but I don't know if that will apply to your J30.

How do you remove the antenna?

If it was a 300ZX I could tell you, on a J30 I dunno exactly. Sorry, I'm a Nissan tech and don't deal with Infinitis every day, especially old ones. They have a rudimentary drawing on EL-78 here and it looks similar to the ZX, two 6mm screws on the bracket and a decorative cap nut where it pierces the fender:

Could be a gear broken inside or the motor could be dead or the plastic line could be broken (as mentioned). It is a pain to remove. The external nut requires a special tool to unscrew or you risk making a mess, which is fine if you just want to remove it and replace it with an aftermarket solution.

The 2 prong guy on this tool might work

I used the one from this set and it worked ok. Not great.
