i just went through rebuilding my power antenna using my broken one and a a used one i ordered (arrived broken as well) and a new mast i ordered online.
first off, it was kind of a hassle, but now works great.
if you get a new mast, make sure to open your power antenna (single 8mm? nut in middle of black part) and take out the clear plastic wheel. wind your new mast around this over and over, the mast teeth facing INWARD, put some tape on it, and let it sit in a warm spot or near a floor vent for a couple of days. i had mine sit on top of my fridge for a weekend.
the mast comes pretty straight, and has a hell of a time winding into that wheel unless you do this i found
the website link is helpful, but what worked better for me was this.. when reassembling:
unscrew the two screws that hold the motor to the power antenna and wiggle it out. with it out, you can now push the new mast into the black body part. (if the motor is attached still the gears won't turn on their own.) when the mast is mostly in the black body, put the other parts on the mast, reattach the motor
before you plug power to the power antenna, make sure your radio is on. this way when you plug in the antenna and turn off the radio it will suck the rest of itself in hopefully
it took some playing around and quite a bit of swearing, but i got it to work. most people replace it with a rubber thing or take it out altogether, but i wanted mine to work again, so it was worth it for me to fix
good luck!
