Hey everyone, I just wanted to gather some opinions.

I am thinking about powdercoating my rims since there are some scrapes, chips, and scratches on them. Right now I have a red coupe with 20" matte black rims/red lip. I'm thinking about powdercoating dark gunmetal. But some people I asked think I should go for all matte black and some said stick with the same color scheme right now. The look I want is a more of a clean and somewhat sort of a stock look. And I'm not really feeling silver rims on a red coupe. So the more opinions the better! If anyone wonders what my car looks like now, please see the sig.

I wanted to see if anyone in this forum that has a red coupe with gunmetal rims or if anyone can help me photoshop. Or if someone can give me there suggestion, that would be very helpful! Thanks.

1 - Powdercoat to dark gunmetal color
2 - Powdercoat to matte black color
or
3 - Powdercoat to the same color scheme now - matte black/with red lip.

Actually I did that a few weeks ago from the original thread you posted, and we were telling you different things to do to your coupe. I photochopped all the different things discussed from that thread, and I was going to post it for you but forgot. I say gunmetal, because it's closer to silver.
Here you go; hope you like.

I'd go with the same setup. That color ^ makes the wheels look dirty.

Bamacoupe- the vinyl roof and headlights are sick! Can you darken the gunmetal rims more? I'm think more like dark gunmetal where it's almost black but still have sort of a gray. If you can, then I can probably make the final decision.

The headlights- are those the eBay rights? I always like that look but I heard mixed reviews on them so I never pulled the trigger on them. Crap, another dilemma.

The vinyl roof overlay is a must now. No debate on that lol. Just the rims and headlights now lol

Thanks for the photoshop Bama. And thanks to others for the opinions. Haha it's funny cuz 3 members with 3 different opinions. That's how I am right now- stuck with the same three choices. Waiting for the others to chime in.

Do you really want to put more money into those? :poke:

Sell them for $500, use the $500 from powder-coating and buy yourself some quality used wheels for $1,000

Well I found a place that will do it for 350 including dismounts and remounts on the tires. And I don't think anyone would buy the rims for 500 if it has scrapes on it. If they do sell, it will take a while to sell.

Or go with a super black finish like the one in the link below? But maybe this is too silver for a red/black coupe?

This is how many rims look when it was matte black before the red lip was painted. Ah tough choices. Help! Lol

Black of any form is far from a stock look; go gunmetal. Here is a set of 370Z 40th Anniversary wheels which are gunmetal (xenon has them on his 370Z and they look great); Nissan I think calls it High-luster smoke.

Also I'm sorry for taking so long, but here is your car with darker gunmetel wheels.

Wow..I am sold to the High Luster Smoke color.. Just wow. See that's the thing, there different shades of gunmetal. That high luster smoke doesn't seem like there are any "gunmetal flakes". It just seems a bit matte color with some gloss. I'm hoping the powder coat place can do this. Thanks Bama! That helped a lot.

Just google image search 40th anniversary 370z wheels and you'll see a lot more pics to get a better idea.

So this kind of sucks. I was told that this high lust smoke color is liquid paint and cannot be done through powdercoating. This blows because I was really going towards the powdercoating route instead. Don't know what to do now.

I was under the impression that you can do anything with powder coating as you can with paint, color wise at least. That's a bummer

Yea, that was a huge bummer. What about semi gloss black? I saw this pic and it looks hot if it was on a red coupe. What you guys think?
