i was currious if any one out there has powdercoated there block? im planning on powdercoating the block, intake, valve cover and a few other odds and ends. but was currious if anyone has had problems with the heat off of the turbo causing the paint to chip or anything along those lines. just trying to make sure all of the stuff i have planned are going to come back to bite me! i will have pic's of my project on my website soon! not really alot to look at but she will be soon!

I don't know about powder coat but I have seen this paint thats kind of like a mood ring. When you paint it on the block and it heats up its stars changing colors. Its pretty cool but expensive

The powder coating technique is not as heat resitant as some would think seeing that it is baked at high temps for a certain amount of time. It would be fine for parts like the intake manifold or valve cover. The block would eventually flake off.

i think powder coating is only done at 400 degerees(dont quote me on this)there is another process out there, cant think of the name right now, but american racing is no using on their wheels and its done at twice the temp of powder coating, might wanna look into that method for temp resistance.

Why would you waste your time powdercoating the block? Even if the powdercoat survived the heat, you can barely see it once the engine is in the car and all the accessories/manifolds/electrical/plumbing is hooked up anyways. I could see powdercoating something like the valve cover (I actually plan to do that soon), but the block? Ehhh no.
